I ran into an interesting problem recently - I needed to use a new 3g (EVDO) laptop card (aka PCMCIA) with a new laptop that only has express card. I should have checked before getting the card if I had an available slot but I didn’t.
So after looking around and realizing that my carrier (Sprint) doesn’t offer an express card EVDO card (yet) I started looking for an option to convert the card - success!
Apparently Sewell Direct actually has an Express Card to PCMCIA card. The one thing that I really liked was that they offered free tech support when I needed some help - I haven’t experienced that very often with an online purchase.
So far the adapter has worked fine for me - my only complaint is the price ($110 seems steep for such a simple adapter), but since it avoided me having to sign another 2-year contract with Sprint in order to get a discount on a new card it seemed like a good deal. Maybe I’ll be able to get an iphone eventually afterall!
